Intermediate Bird Taxidermy

$975.00

Intro to Birds is a pre-requisite for this workshop. If you have taken a similar course, please email for authorization. This is a continuation of our bird taxidermy foundation. If you purchase without approval, your fee can be used towards other classes and workshops.

In Intermediate Birds January 31st & February 1, you will continue your bird taxidermy with a new challenge- Pheasant!

Beautiful, flashy ring neck pheasants are a classic. With a significant jump in size from a starling, you will see how the same principals apply. Replace what has been removed. This bird will teach you the importance of the structural soundness we touched on in ITB. We will use a replica head so you can learn how to remove the face skin from the skull (which transfers to other birds). We will also use premade bodies to allow you more time to focus on cleaning a larger skin and more time for learning anatomical correctness, focusing on the distinctive feather groups, and learn how to wire bigger legs and wings!

Your closed wing pheasant will leave on a temporary base. If you would like to mount on a specific piece of wood (or other) bring it along. Studio will supply tools and materials.

Each day is about 6-8 hours of instruction starting at 9am, a short lunch break around 1pm.

With only 4 students per class, this workshop is dedicated to making sure each student has ample instruction throughout the process. Students come away with a new admiration for birds from a different perspective. 18 and up, unless guardian participates in the class alongside the youth. Please email with questions before booking.

*Strongly encourage students take Taxidermy Reference & Recording (Upland Birds) as we do not cover this process over this weekend.
